POLLOCKS TOY MUSEUM, SCALA STREET, LONDON

Dimensions: 75cm x 50cm(closed) and 75cm x 92cm (opened)

Pollocks Toy Museum (every child's dream) is an intriguing, eclectic collection, over several floors, of toys spanning several centuries. The outside of the shop is quirky with its blanked-off door and odd window line. In the painting Peter Blake, father of the British pop art movement, stands in a doorway wearing his denim suit with badges all over his jacket and holding an Elvis magazine. We are transported back into 1950s Britain. Blake made everyday objects, such as Mickey Mouse toys, and everyday activities, such as wrestling, the subject matter of his paintings.
